Weekend DIY - Lip Balm

When the weather gets colder and drier, I tend to find myself constantly covered in moisturising creams and balms or else my skin becomes really dry very quickly. So on that note of skin pampering, this weekend's make-your-own is for handmade lip balm. The ingredients list is short and the steps are ridiculously simple. With Christmas and New Year on their way, batches of these would make wonderful little gifts too.

And for those who prefer a little colour, here's an alternative recipe for making your own tinted lip balm! (Martha Stewart)

Soap Delights

My latest purchase arrived yesterday morning. I impulsed bought it as soon as I saw it because it was just so beautifully presented. Here is the delightful Turkish Delight from Soaphora, a UK based seller (hurray!).

It smells absolutely gorgeous and I almost don't want to open it as it will spoil the cute packaging. Can't wait to try the others in her range, especially with yummy names like Banana Bread and Mango Smoothie.

Margot Elena is the lady behind the designs of beauty brands Tokyo Milk, Lollia, Love and Toast. They're all so pretty, I want to get everything...

Ahhh...and of course, they're all unnecessarily expensive ^^;

Vintage loveliness

I love Boot's Original Beauty range. It's based on their original formula and uses gorgeous vintage inspired packaging with pretty glass bottles and jars. I've tried the cleansing milk and body cream (Patchouli & Lavender), and my favourite so far, the Damask Rose skin tonic. It's simple beauty skincare that looks adorable, smells lovely and actually works.

The cleansing milk takes make up off on the first wipe and isn't harsh on the skin. The toner smells heavenly, and the body cream melts in seconds. I felt it cleared up my temperamental pores after just a few uses. Love it.

Update August 2010 - They've discontinued the range =( Couldn't find it in the shops.

Apothecary Magic

Browsed around in Boots on the way home today. Found a cute tinned strawberry flavoured lipgloss by Rose&Co and fell in love with the company that makes it. Their shop in Yorkshire is like an apothecary from the old times. Everything's packaged in cute tins and bottles and look so glitzy and glamourous.
