Weekend DIY - Le Petit Prince inspiration jar
How utterly wonderful is this idea by Christy of Sweet Tidings? A favourite quote stamped on a glass bottle and decorated inside with pretty, sparkly things. Christy's used inspiration from Le Petit Prince (♥♥♥), but the possibilities are limitless! Stamp on any quote you like and fill your bottle with whatever inspires you. See the steps to hand-making your very own inspiration jar.

Weekend DIY - sewn pillowcase floor cushions
The cold and the dark always make me want to snuggle up and hibernate in the winter. If it wasn't so impractical I'd wear my duvet everywhere.
And how cute are these pillowcase floor cushions? What a great way to re-purpose old pillows and cases. You only need to sew a few cases together, fill with spare pillows and you'll have your very own comfy mat to snuggle on. You could use them as instant spare beds for sleepovers too.

Weekend DIY - Silk shirt refashion
I must confess clothes-making is one craft that I haven't really tried properly. Apart from one rather suspect skirt I turned out during Year 9 Textiles, I haven't been brave enough to try again. I'm not sure I'd be able to make something I could wear.
So it's saying a lot if even I am very tempted to try out this really simple refashion of a silk shirt tutorial by Alli of One Pearl Button. Her instructions look incredibly straight forward and the result looks so pretty! Do your own silk shirt refashion.

Weekend DIY - Zip-Itself pencil case and coin purse
This week's DIY project, from Craft Passion, is a bit more complicated than the ones I normally choose but it is simply too cool not to share. After some sewing magic, you can zip up a single strip of ribbon to form either a pencil case, or a tetrahedral coin purse!
These would make wonderful small gifts! Make your own coin purse.
Or pencil case.

Weekend DIY - Bed Canopy
I have always wanted to have a bed canopy! It must be all those princess stories... You'll need a sturdy hook from the ceiling for this one but the rest of it is unbelievably easy to make. Create your own bed canopy.

Weekend DIY - Cake Stand
Shop-bought cake stands can be expensive but you can easily design and hand make your very own. Choose any cute plate and pair it with almost anything you like that has a flat top and sturdy base - candle stands, tumblers...the combinations are endless! I found several versions of how to make these cake stands, you can follow the simple instructions for these clear glass ones HERE.
And see some of the different varieties HERE.

Weekend DIY - Matryoshka doll sewing set
When I was younger I found my mum's Russian doll set rather fascinating; I liked the way the same doll got smaller and smaller and fitted inside each other like a puzzle (and made rather sweet, if odd sized, bowling pins...). Now I've found an even cuter way you can make use of your Matryoshka dolls - turn them into a handmade sewing kit! Follow Vintage Violet's easy steps to make the Russian doll pin cushion HERE.

Weekend DIY - Picture frame earring display
Earring holders are good. You can see your earring collection at a glance and they don't get all tangled up together. I bought one some time ago but it's actually really easy to hand make your own. I wish I'd found this tutorial earlier as I think this one looks far cuter! All you need is a picture frame, some wire, a staple gun and paint in the colour of your choice. For your own, follow the simple steps HERE.
Just a little tip, I wouldn't hang your sterling silver ones out as they will tarnish faster (being exposed to the elements and all) and need cleaning more frequently. =D

Weekend DIY Edible - Potted chocolate mint puddings
I know you're not supposed to play with your food, but this is just too adorable.
Mini pot plants? No! They're chocolate puddings in disguise! I love it, all the way down to the crumbled chocolate cookie 'dirt' ♥. Makes you think you have to get glass pudding cups, just so that you can do this. Recipe for your own potted chocolate mint puddings.

Sometimes you come across an idea that makes you think, now why didn't I think of that?
Not only does this turn old cutlery into great handmade gifts, I reckon the hammering would also be rather good for releasing stress. Follow the quick and easy steps HERE.

Weekend DIY - Teacup Succulent Garden
If you have a lack of garden and are not so green fingered, but often wish for a bit of nature around your house, these succulent plants in teacups may do the trick. As succulents are adapted to arid soils and climes (the cactus is a family member), they won't mind as much if you forget to water them! To create your own teacup garden, follow these simple steps HERE.

Weekend DIY - Doily Vase
Add some whimsical charm to a plain glass vase by wrapping a lacey doily around it. Then simply cut away any excess and hand stitch securely in place for a tight fit.
